West Antarctic is one of the two principality of the federation of Antarcticland.

The history of Antarcticland presents three key-dates:

fabian gottlieb11821 when Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen (also known in Russian as: Фаддей Фаддеевич Беллинсгаузен) discover the Antarctic Continent and founded the State of Antarcticland  in order to defend the lands of ice that he  discovered.

According to some historical accounts these soldiers were known as the Knights of the Ice (due to their strength and impassibility). However, the most accepted and accredited ‘legend’ states that the Tsar entrusted his personal safety to his most trusted admiral, promising him regency over conquered lands in return for his loyalty. According to this historical account, Alexander I named this secret branch the Knights of the Ice (now Knights of Antarcticland) and appointed the admiral Fabian Gottlieb von Bellinghausen at its head with the Title of Prince. He was already a lieutenant of the Knights of Malta, and accepted the Tsar’s invitation; he was named Grand Master of the secret Order and was given men and ships. The Tsar renounced his ownership of the lands the fleet conquered and Gottlieb maintained leadership over the men in this select group of the most trustworthy Knights of Malta, ensuring that they kept their existence a secret in order to be more effective in the fight against the many intrigues of the Russian nobility.  All the knights had to swear to maintain the Sovereign Order in the utmost secrecy, and to defend the Antarcticland territory.

vater f gottlieb2007 when H.H. Prince Hans Gottlieb (son of Vater F. Gottlieb), appointed H.H. Prince Giovanni Caporaso Gottlieb, as the 42nd Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of the knights of Antarcticland and Regent of Antarcticland. Prince Giovanni Caporaso Gottlieb, aware of the possible extinction of the Order and of the probable occupation of the national territory by other States, released the Knights from the obligation to secrecy and through an act of request for recognition claimed his territory officially, notifying it to the United Nations through the Supreme Court of New York on the bases of the jus gentium act and of the right of self-determination of people recognised by the Magna Charta of the United Nations and by other regional and international documents, included the Declaration on the Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relation and Co-operation among States adopted by the General Assembly of the UN in 1970; the Helsinky Final Act adopted by the Conference on Security and co-operation in Europe (CSCE) in 1975; the African Charter of Human and People Rights in 1981; the CSCE Charter of Paris for a new Europe adopted in 1990; The Vienna Declaration and Programme Action in 1993 and reaffirmed by the International Court of Justice of Namibia, the case of Western Sahara, and East Timor in which the Right was erga omnes recognized. During the last century the Knights lost part of the Territories of the Anatrctic and they where claimed by other Nations, but the Sovereign Order of the Knights Antarticland successfully protected its territory to this day. Proof of this is that no other Nation has claimed our territory.
